O'Flaherty Lab
Welcome to the O'Flaherty Lab (Microbial Ecology Lab)!
We are interested in all aspects of microbial ecology, more than that, we apply these fundamental knowledge for developing technologies to contribute to a sustainable world. Our research expands from low temperature anaerobic digestion, biorefinery from industrial waste (VFA and PHA production), and reducing GHG emissions from slurry and ruminants.
Check the details in our research page.
We are pleased to announce that the 5th International Conference on Biogas Microbiology (ICBM-5) will be hosted by us.
Please check the conference website for details. We are looking forward to seeing you in Galway!

O'Flaherty lab commits to sustainable research.
As we are enthusiastic about sustainability, we decided to reduce the impacts of our research on the environment. The O'Flaherty lab is proud to join my green lab program and to be certified. We will keep improving our practices and facilities to make this world a better place.
This progress is supported by Dr. Una Fitzgerald who leads the SFI Sustainable Laboratory Certification Program.
