Welcome to Vincent O'Flaherty's lab group page! We are interested in all things microbial, but our focuses include anaerobic digestion and understanding the microbial processes underpinning it in order to make AD more efficient for a range of wastes and under a variety of conditions including at low temperature. We are also interested in other microbial processes associated with sustainability, including the production of PHAs, reducing methane emissions from both slurry and ruminant fermentation and the sequestration of polyphosphates.
